Communications and employability skills

I have done well so far on this unit and working on my third blog post which am doing now. And will hand in today and also the next task I am working on is my PowerPoint presentation of any topic of my choice.

This is the third of five dairy entries I will be doing. I have really achieved a lot since the last one which was Week beginning 1st December 2009.

Website Production

I have so far enjoyed this lesson, and I turn up 2 lessons on time. I have now finished my first task on my assignment and now working towards task 2 which is to identify the potential security issues and legal constraints involved in a particular website. In the past it has bin difficult concentrating but now I am willing to put more effort and achieve more.

Computer systems

Previously I have not met my deadlines on this unit but due to the review week I have finally caught up and finished my second task and now working on the third which is almost finished. I have now put more effort in doing my assignment and pay attention in lesson so I do not fall behind again.

Principles of computer network
I am now up to date with the task. I have had problems with it in the past but now I am really putting much more effort and now realise what is more important to me.

Principles of software design and development

I have finally caught up on my task and almost finished task 2. Unlike before I am now turning up for lesson and being on time. I am not letting anything get in my way now because once I fall behind again it will be difficult getting back on track.

Advanced database skills

During my last review week I have done the entire task that need to be handed in on the assignment for this task and finally up-to-date, I am really giving it a chance so I can understand it more.

Key skills

I am almost done on the 1st assignment on this unit which I will hand in before the end of this week. I have done the plan for the second assignment which is a youth club holiday planning and I started it yesterday.

Blog post 2

I really learnt a lot since my last blog post which was in the beginning 3rd November 2008.

Website Production
This is my favourite lesson so far am still doing more practice on creating websites using dream weaver and also working on my 1st task of my assignment which are identifying the factors that influence the performance of a website.

Computer systems

I have finished my task1 and now moving on to task 2 but I have not started so I am learning about two different operating systems and would be writing it up for my second task. I just need to concentrate more in this lesson

Principles of computer networks

I have started my assignment and finished task 1, now is working towards task 2. My main worries for this unit is turning up because sometimes I have a basketball match and have 2 miss the lesson.

Principles of software design and development

I have finished my 1st task in this unit and I now understand more about the coding in programming. My only problem for this lesson is getting there on time because it tends to come in late because it is on a Monday morning. So far I have tried waking up more early so I can get to it on time.

Advanced database skills

I have learnt very little from this unit and am progressing very slow. I am trying to stay more committed so far i have learnt about relationship in database and setting a primary key.

Key skills

I am still working on the assignment I have got the 15 sport equipment from different online store and did a plan, now am working toward using the formula in excel to get the differences.

Communications and employability skills

I am progressing very well in this unit, I created my blog posted my 1st blog entry and dairy post I am also working on barriers to communication and explanation of mechanisms that can be used to reduce the impact of communication barriers.

Blog post 1

I have achieved a lot since I started my 1st dairy entry entitled post 1. I will be looking at what knew skills or knowledge I have achieved, how well I learned it, how I can improve it and how to overcome my weakness I mentioned in my SWOT analysis also a reflection of my progress.

Website Production

In website production I have learnt how to create a HTML site using Notepad and Dreamweaver. I am able to create a Dreamweaver site now and link all the HTML sites together. I learned it very quickly because I was paid attention and I was willing to learn how to create a HTML site on my own and I understood the teacher because she helped me when I had difficulty in the work.
I can improve my performance by staying focused am try to get distracted.

Computer systems

Computer systems are one of my least favourite units. I have tried working hard in this unit. So far I have learnt the main components of a computer system and their Functions. I try my best to pay attention and stay focused in this unit.

Principles of computer networks

I do quite well in this unit. I understand what the principles of computer networks are if am not sure of anything I would ask my teacher. I have started my assignment am aiming to stay focused and keep to deadlines.

Principles of software design and development

In thus unit I like designing programs but my least favourite part is typing in the code and sometimes I get it wrong but I got a lot of help from my teacher so I am able to move on. I have improved a lot in this unit and making progress.

Advanced database skills

This is my least favourite unit I find it quite boring and pointless and I think this because i do not understand it. I haven’t really given it a chance yet. This is my first time of working with database and it is not going too well. In future I will try my best to see what this unit is more about.

Key skills

Key skills are a very interesting lesson and I try my best to achieve more in this unit. It is mostly working with numeracy and literacy. So far in my assignment I have found and compare 15 different types of sports equipment in Excel and used formulas to work out all the differences.

Communications and employability skills

This unit is my second favourite. I am doing very well in this lesson and I get a lot of help from my teacher and I try not to get distracted my other student as they tend to joke around most of the time. So far I have leant about communication and employability skills, identifying and meeting personal development needs, SWOT analysis and development plan. I would like to get at least a merit for this unit.

What is a blog?
A blog is an online dairy or journal witha collection of pots intended for the public view, entries are displayed in reverse chronoligical order. Its imformation can be puilished instantly to the web and can be updated frequently. informaton can be posted to a blog such as political soap box, breaking news outlet and it can have links to other sites or blogs. it also connects people, comments can be left, viewed and responded to.

What is a blog post?
A blog post is an entry made by a blogger.

What are the components of a blog page?
Blog title, post title, date, text, advertising

Where did the name blog come from?
It is a shorteded name from webblog by Jorn Barger in december 17 1997 and the term was first used by Peter Merholz in may 1999.

How has blogs changed the nature of news from the 20th century to the 21st century?
20th century news:TV,Newspaper, Professional journalists/editors. it is one way.

21th century:
Professional & Personal
Anyone can be a reporter or write the news and anyone can read it.

Advantages of maintaining a blog as a communication channel:
-anyone can get their voice heared
-easy to whrite
-easy to setup, cheap and affordable
-Dynamic
-could make one famous

Main disadvantages or even dangers of using a blog as a communication Channel:
-Defagmentation of character, Several cases have been brought before the national courts against bloggers concerning issues of defamation or liability.
-Negative consequenses for people named in blogs.
